Requesting claim-free years in between

To make it more transparent, the insurer is obliged to give you a statement every year about the number of claim-free years you have accumulated. This is often done when the contract is renewed. In insurance terms, this is called prolongation. If you have lost this overview or don't know where to find it? Then you can always ask your insurer in between how many years you have accrued. Contact your current car insurer for this.

Damage-free years with a lease car

Have you had a leased car? Then things work slightly differently. Most lease companies issue a so-called lease statement when the lease contract is terminated. This states how many damages you may have had and how long the contract was in your name. You can use this statement to take the accrued damage-free years from the lease contract with your car insurance. Just check first whether the lease statement is sufficient.

Please note: the claim-free years you have accrued are not valid indefinitely. The years not in use usually expire after 3 years. So pay attention when leasing, for example.
